Egypt is a country in North Africa that includes the Sinai Peninsula, a land bridge to Asia. Egypt borders Libya to the west, Sudan to the south, and the Gaza Strip and Israel to the east. The northern coast borders the Mediterranean Sea and the island of Cyprus; the eastern coast borders the Red Sea.

Roughly 78 million people live in Egypt. They mostly live near the banks of the River Nile where the only farming land is found. Few people live in the Sahara Desert. About half of Egypt's people live in cities, with most of them spread across greater Cairo, the capital, Alexandria and other major cities in the Nile Delta.

Egypt is famous for its ancient civilization and some of the world's most famous monuments, including the Giza pyramid and the Great Sphinx. The southern city of Luxor contains a lot of ancient buildings, such as the Karnak Temple and the tombs in the Valley of the Kings.

As far as business goes, a lot of the ordinary people are farmers. Clothing, textiles, oil, gas, iron, steel, trucks and cars are also important.

Throughout Egypt, days are commonly warm or hot, and nights are cool. Egypt has only two seasons: a mild winter from November to April and a hot summer from May to October. The only differences between the seasons are changes in the daytime temperatures and the direction of the winds. In the coastal regions, temperatures range between 14° C in winter and 30° C in summer.
